I am from Tonbridge in Kent and moved to the Scottish Borders after finishing University in 1997. I settled in Midlothian with my family in 2005, where I live with my husband Neil, our son Ryan and Tess the dog. My background is in community learning and development, specializing in youth work. When I am not making cakes, I love to be outdoors with family and friends. Enjoying a nice glass of red wine curled up with a book.
As a keen home baker, my cake journey began when I volunteered to make my sisters wedding cake in 2007. I got the cake bug and attended Cake Decoration and Sugarcraft classes Level 1, 2 & 3 at Edinburgh College.
I continued classes at Midlothian Council and practiced my skills making many cakes for friends and family. Due to popularity, I launched Heavenly Tiers in 2010 on a part time basis from home.
In 2016, I took the decision to leave my role as Project Manager at a Youth Charity to focus on Heavenly Tiers. Successfully completed a Professional Diploma in Patisserie at the Edinburgh School of Food and Wine. Relaunching in 2017, to provide cakes and confections.
Drawing on my background in Community Education, I love to share my passion for cake decoration. I have delivered many demonstrations and classes, both for young people and adults.
During 2011 – 2019, I was an established tutor for Midlothian Council, offering classes at all levels from Beginners to Intermediate. My husband and I converted our garage, a former coach house into a cake studio where I now produce bespoke cakes and deliver classes to small groups.
To keep my skills up to date, I have completed classes with renowned cake artists such as Paul Bradford, Suzanne Esper, Lindy Smith and Dawn Butler and attend regular meetings with the British Sugarcraft Guild.
An affiliate business member of Pretty Witty Academy and professional member of Cake Flix. I am a trainee demonstrator for the British Sugarcraft Guild.
Heavenly Tiers is registered and inspected by Midlothian Council and insured by British Sugar Craft Guild.
